The Hollywood's monthly TV party reminds viewers that many of Hollywood's greatest directors got their start in the oft-disrespected realm of the TV movie. Of course now TV movies are indistinguishable from their theatrical brethren (and frequently of higher quality) but in the late '70s, they were decidedly minor league affairs where up-and-coming youngsters jostled with old, tired hacks for behind-the-camera time and meager paychecks. One such fresh-faced man was Wes Craven, who made Stranger in Our House for NBC, an adaptation of Lois Duncan's novel Summer of Fear. It premiered on Halloween night, 1978, and stars Linda Blair as a high school girl whose weird cousin moves into her house and is immediately suspected of being a goddamn witch.
